Big business in Bad Salzuflen
Deals will be made at ZOW 2010

The sales figures speak for themselves: two thirds of the stand area for ZOW 2010 have already been sold. The global players of the international supplier industry will be at the Bad Salzuflen trade fair centre between 8 and 11 February, as will a multitude of smaller, innovative companies from the sector, for whom ZOW provides a home. The German economy has been gathering momentum again and ZOW in Bad Salzuflen is the ideal industry platform from which to tap into the markets of Central Europe. It’s here that orders will be placed and deals made.

The catchment area of ZOW in Bad Salzuflen extends to Great Britain and the Benelux in the West, Poland and the Czech Republic in the East, Scandinavia in the North and Austria and Switzerland in the South. But the core target market remains Germany, where the region of East Westphalia is home to one of the largest furniture clusters in Europe. The OECD is forecasting a GDP growth of 6 percentage points between 2009 and 2010 for Germany, 4-5 percentage points for the Benelux, Austria, Great Britain and Sweden, and 8 percentage points for Ireland. And those who are in the right place at the right time will be sure to benefit from this. ZOW in Bad Salzuflen is one of these places – running at the perfect time in February, right before MOW.

ZOW visitors can expect an exciting line-up of innovations in 2010 – after all, the creative force of the sector isn’t letting up. Despite, or perhaps because of, the economic crisis, there’s been a lot of new products come out of companies’ development departments. Fittings manufacturers can offer impressive and technically perfected solutions with a high level of design quality for drawers, covers and doors. Classic elegance is the hot topic for surfaces, which are given a modern twist with cherry, walnut and oak woods. The trend amongst lighting is for small products with high lighting levels, appealing light colours, low heat radiation and an extremely long service life.

In addition to visitors from the furniture and interior design industries, including those from trade fair construction and retail design, ZOW has catered increasingly for architects, interior designers and designers since 2007. Commercial property is becoming increasingly interesting for companies in the supplier industry, giving rise to new, lucrative sales prospects, which require systematic processing. Around 2000 architects made the journey to Bad Salzuflen in 2009, a number which will most likely increase in 2010. The architectural lounge, which is designed differently each year, houses an attractive forum with an exclusive specialist programme, on which Survey collaborates with selected partners from architecture and design.

Focussing on the future

ZOW is first and foremost the showcase for new products for the sector, but is also a forum for interesting topics of the future. 2010 is set to focus on lightweight construction, new materials and universal design. The “Interessengemeinschaft Leichtbau e.V.” (Lightweight Construction Association) will once again present the current trends in this forward-looking topic at a joint stand. “MaterialZ” will invite ZOW visitors to discover the exciting world of new materials and to enter into dialogue with experts and users. Universal design is a trade fair topic which shows how products have to be procured such that they can be used by as many people as possible – whether they’re young or old or big or small. Universal design products should also be functional yet aesthetic at the same time.
